The Mine is comprised of two main bodies (body A and body B), approximately 400 meters far from each other. Body A is similar to an "S" elongated in the North-South direction, with dip from 10º to 70º NW-W, approximate length of 1,100 meters and thickness from 50 to 70 meters. Body B is about 900 meters long in the same direction of body A and similar thickness, the dip is from 10º to 70º NW-W, increasing in the South portion, where it reaches up to 60º. The soil coverage in the location is comprised of a layer that varies from 1 to 15 meters of thickness. The mine has average content of fiber of 7.84%. The current geologic knowledge of the reserves, obtained through systematic campaign of drilling developed by the company, projects the mine useful life for more 60 years, according to the current production level, which can be increased upon the detailing of the reserves in bodies A and B.

The implementation phase involves the mineral research, opening of access ways and installation of equipment.
However, it must be emphasized that the implementation phase operations are made concurrently with the operation phase, aiming at the enlargement of reserves and modernization of the facilities. The purpose thereof is to determine the available mineral reserves in order to perform the technical-economic feasibility study of the usage.

It comprises basically the processes of opening of trails, piling, excavations (wells and trenches), rotating drilling and geophysical surveys.

Opening of access ways
The opening of access ways is made through cuts and earth fills.

Equipment installation
The equipment to be used in the mining, improvement and in the other operations is installed in the implementation phase. New equipment may be installed during the operating phase, aiming at the modernization of the operations or increase of productivity. Such operation involves excavation, making of earth fills and placement of foundations, piping, gutters, among others.
The mining method for extraction of the ore is at open pit (pit A and pit B). The ore extraction is made concurrently in pits A and B, in order to obtain good quality of the product, concerning the length and average contents of the fiber, proper to supply the processing plant and to meet the market consumption standards. The mining is performed by the classic method of extraction in benches, with utilization of explosives. The benches are 13 meters high for the ore and for the sterile and final berms from 5 to 7 meters wide for both. The inclination of the individual slopes in the benches is of about 70º and in the overall configuration of the pit it is from 45º to 50º. The average ratio sterile/ore is of 0.98 in weight, taking into consideration a final project of extraction of up to 194 meters in pit B and 184 meters in pit A of depth, at open air. From such depth, there is the alternative of continuing the extraction by the underground mining method. However, such decision depends on the detailing of feasibility studies. The waste and the sterile are placed in two disposal deposits, named disposal area A and disposal area B, near to pits A and B, respectively. The construction planning of those deposits already foresees the recovery of their vegetation concurrent with the disposal.
