The purpose of the Occupational Health Department is to promote and keep the health of the employees and partners through prevention programs.
Occupational Health develops programs for prevention of occupational diseases and programs that aim at improving the life quality of the employees.
Every beginning of year, it elaborates the Action Plan, where it lists the campaigns, with the respective dates, that will be performed during the year.
It reviews, also on a yearly basis, the Occupational Health Medical Control Program (PCMSO), which defines and details the department activities, which are the following: admission, periodic, dismissal, post-dismissal examinations, examinations for return to work, for change of position, all obligatory pursuant to the law. PCMSO also contemplates activities under the initiative of SAMA such as evaluations for temporary and/or definitive rearrangements and hearing conservation programs.

The internal campaigns for the awareness of employees and partners held during the year include: blood hypertension fighting or prevention campaign, Asbestos Controlled Use, awareness on smoking and alcoholism, STD/AIDS (sexually-transmissible diseases), vaccination against Influenza, tetanus and yellow fever, dosage of cholesterol and glucose in order to prevent heart, vascular diseases and diabetes, in addition to first aid training.
It has a collection with more than 70 thousand X-ray pictures and more than 10 thousand medical records of people that already worked at SAMA (employees of SAMA itself and of third parties that performed activities in the company).
